Decent used car for a teenage driver on a budget.?

I would like to purchase a used car, preferably a sedan or coupe. The main features I'm looking for is power steering, anti-lock brakes, and little to no damage to the car. My budget is around $2000. Any suggestions? The only car I have in mind now is a 1999 Ford Escort; any comments on it's quality and reliability?Decent used car for a teenage driver on a budget.?
they are good cars if they have been taken care of. another car to look at is the chevy cavilier usually reliable and safe, another is the corsica

i would get a nissan hardbody....i have one and its strong built, but i suggest you spend some money and get a new paint job and rims, maybe sound system for you son
I would look at pontiac grand ams, they are not to bad in that price range but if u want reliability and quality u need to spend about 3500.
